Things Keep Happening

Rohan got his mission call on Tuesday! He is going to serve in the Utah Saratoga Springs Mission. His training begins online on November 4, and then he will be going to the MTC in Provo, Utah, after that. We are so excited for him and this big step in his life. He's going to be a great missionary.

He read the email to us and the Jones and Taylor families. We've already had so many people telling us that their brother, or daughter, or cousin lives in Saratoga Springs. I think he will be well taken care of. His Aunty Brielan and Uncle Sam, and Uncle Daniel and Aunt Becca are also very close by.

The next day, after a little (okay, a lot) of arm twisting, Rohan put on his suit and let me take some photos of him at the temple. It was the worst seven minutes of his life. Just ask him.

On Friday I threw the weirdest baby shower ever. My friend Lexie texted me a few hours before the shower, and right after we had finished decorating, to tell me she was in labor at the hospital. We got a text about five minutes after the shower had started telling us baby Elizabeth had been born. Savitri decided we should just say the shower was a birthday party for the baby instead. Either way, the food was good and so was the company, even if Lexie couldn't make it.

On Saturday morning, Savitri had two soccer games and her teams won both games. It was a breezy 86 degrees. So much more pleasant to be outside than it has been. Rohan coached four games that morning.

Today is Bruce's 16th birthday! My babies are growing up! Later this week, Savitri will be 13!

Bruce requested his usual chocolate cake with mint frosting, but asked for purple icing instead, just to throw people off. He got lots of books for presents plus a few other fun things. We are so proud of this wonderful boy. Next stop, the driver's license testing center!

It feels like everything is happening all at once. All these milestones in just a week! A mission, a new driver, and another teenager! I love who my children are becoming, but I miss the smaller versions of them at the same time.
