Fall Break in New England

We had a wonderful time visiting New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Vermont, and Maine. We were able to stay in Belmont, New Hampshire, with Grammy and Grandpa Clark at a nice Airbnb with a great view of Lake Winnisquam.

First day there.

Last day there. The colors were in full swing.

From there we got to visit Franconia Notch and go on some very pretty hikes and drives. The fall colors were outstanding.

We visited The Basin and The Flume at the Franconia Notch Stake Park.

This lovely abandoned train track walk was right next to our house.

Pippin and Smudgie love walkies. 

We were able to visit the King Arthur Baking Company and get some yummy bread.

We made a quick stop in Sharon, Vermont, to visit the birthplace of the Prophet Joseph Smith.

There is a 38 1/2 foot monument there. One foot to commemorate each year of his life before he was martyred.

On Thursday, Ben and the boys drove to Rockland, Maine, to visit David and Maryann Small, our good friends from when Ben served his mission there.

They also walked across a breakwater to a lighthouse and ate at the famous Red's Eats.

You can't see it, but there is a roll under all that lobster.

While they were there, Mummy, Savitri, and I went thrift shopping around the nearby towns. 

And at nights, Grandpa and the kids stayed up late playing games.

Ben, Clark, and the kids went to Funspot on our last day of holiday. It's supposed to be the largest arcade in the world. It had loads of classic 80s and 90s video games.

While they were there, Grammy and I were supposed to be going shopping, but as I tried to back Clark's very large Yukon down the long driveway to the street, I managed to snag the front bumper and tear it completely off. The dads got it all taped up for a trip back to Connecticut, but it will need more fixing later. 

Despite the mishap, we had an amazing time. It was just too short.
