Hurricane Harvey

We came out of Hurricane Harvey stressed but unscathed. We have been very blessed. The kids will go back to school on Wednesday, but Ben will be working from home for a few more weeks since his work place flooded. Our schools and church building were also unharmed. We were able to go to our neighborhood park once the rain stopped on Wednesday. The kids were stuck in the house for a long time because of the weather.
We've been trying to help others who flooded. For me that has mostly involved watching other people's children, so they can clean out their homes or volunteer. Bruce and Evan don't mind being thrown together every day.
Savitri was happy to have extra little girls to play with, too.
My kids decided there wasn't enough chaos in Houston, so they built their own little tent city upstairs in the toy room. It has grown by two "rooms" since I took this photo, and they even have their own mailboxes where they send letters to each other. They are going to be sad when I make them clean it up tomorrow.
Ben has spent the last two days helping to tear out sheet rock and remove furniture and debris from flooded homes. He's working side by side with friends from church and the community, like our good neighbor Wade Hardie.
Thanks for all the prayers and for checking up on us. We feel your support. Keep praying for the Houstonians. We'll need those extra prayers for a while.
