We visited England for three weeks and were able to see our family there. What a great trip!
The first week we spent in Ipswich, where Uncle Darry lives. We got to see him for a few hours before he left for a two-week trip to Malaysia with Aunty Po and Kishan. Then we stayed at his house with Grandpa Beard and Aunty Chandi for a week, exploring Ipswich and the surrounding areas.
Our of our forays was to Bury St. Edmunds, where Uncle Darry works. It's a beautiful town with lots of history. It's the burial of place of St. Edmund, if you can imagine that, and his story is an interesting one replete with arrows, a beheading, and a wolf.
At home we kept busy with Legos, puzzles, and a new game show we discovered called The Chase.
We were so glad to be able to visit Grandpa. He broke his hip in February and was still recovering.
Aunty Chandi was visiting from Jersey to help take care of Grandpa and to see us.
Uncle Darry's dog, Hugo, spent most of the week under the chair very suspicious of us.
We got to go on a few jaunts with Grandpa to a park, Nando's restaurant, and the beach.
We enjoyed fish and chips and the sea air in Aldeburgh. (In true British style, pronounced nothing like it's spelled. All-de-burrow.)
One of my favorite excursions was to Sutton Hoo (pronounced Hoe). It's the site of a few Anglo-Saxon burial mounds, including one where a king was buried in his ship surrounded by treasure.
At the end of the week, Hugo finally left his chair and came out to visit with Grandpa for a while.
