A Birthday, a Bridge, and a Banana

Ben and I like to go for walks on the Exxon campus. It's a pretty place. Right now they have a display of giant flowers and mushrooms and other garden things that light up at night.

It was nice to have a quiet walk since the rest of the week was really busy. Savitri presented her GT (gifted and talented program) project at school. She researched bridges and built a diorama. Then she got to talk to people about it at the showcase.

On the same night, we went to the Pinewood Derby at church. It was lots of loud fun. Over the last month, Ben helped most of the kids make their cars. There were some really cool ones. 

Bruce's was a plain wedge of wood. Savitri's was a banana with Minion passengers. 

It was Ben's birthday this week. We enjoyed opening presents with him and eating lots of cake. Some friends came over on Friday night to celebrate with us.

We celebrated again on Sunday with Susan's family. Ben tried out a new sideways-blowing-out-the-candles technique.

On Saturday, all the kids from church had a service project at a local charity. Bruce, Savitri, and I went. We painted, sorted food for the food bank, and organized books in the library. It's a really great place that does a lot of good in the neighborhood.

While we were gone, Ben and Rohan built a huge enclosure for his wood laser. Now we can safely watch it without the protection glasses.

Savitri came with me to a baby blessing yesterday. My friend's baby Sam is too cute. My baby Savitri is so cute too :)
