We loved spending Christmas with Grandma and Grandpa Butler in El Paso, Texas, where they are serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for the next year and a half.
We arrived late Christmas Eve, just before Santa got there, and woke up to lots of Christmas fun.
I'm pretty sure the kids' favorite presents were their whoopie cushions. What was Santa thinking?!?
For Christmas dinner we at at the church with other senior and younger missionaries and a few families. It was a great experience.
We played lots of games during our time together. And we were able to visit White Sands, New Mexico. It looks like snow, but it's really sand!
But
this, is actually snow! We went from 80 degrees in Houston, to unusual below freezing weather in El Paso. The kids were thrilled to have snow to play in! They even made a BB-8 snow droid.
There were maybe six inches, but the folks in El Paso are not used to snow, so church was cancelled on Sunday.
We were able to visit a beautiful old LDS church building that Mom and Dad took us to see though.
We were also able to get some good Mexican food. We were so close to the border we could see into Mexico.
